Green Planet Pioneers – Obiliq, the town that warms and lights up Kosovo, deserves greater care!
On Earth Day, Obiliq spoke in green, with youthful voices and concrete actions for the environment.
Children, youth, teachers, health professionals, and local institutions came together for a shared goal: To plant life where pollution has long taken nature’s breath away.
Obiliq, the town that for decades has generated the energy that lights and warms Kosovo – bears the heaviest burden of environmental pollution. For that reason, our debt to this town is twofold: care, awareness, and immediate action.
Under the motto of the “Green Planet Pioneers” project, representatives of the Education Code Organization, students from the “17 Shkurti” Gymnasium and the Technical High School, the principal Ms. Besa Gashi, the dedicated staff of the Family Medicine Center, representatives from the Municipality of Obiliq, and members of the local community set a powerful example:
Change begins at the roots – and those roots were planted today, together.
The project was implemented by Education Code Organization, with the valuable support of the Australian Embassy in Zagreb, and aims to inspire younger generations to become the voice and force for a greener and fairer future.
Activities:
- Dozens of tree saplings were planted in public and school spaces, each tagged with the logos of the project and its supporting partners.
- Recycling bins were installed, categorized for Plastic, Paper, and other waste, encouraging waste separation from an early age.
- A cleanup and greening initiative was organized in the surroundings of local schools.
- Young participants were actively involved in every stage of the initiative – from cleaning and planting to raising awareness about environmental protection.
